twocents v1.1-20
The reports of our death are greatly exaggerated.
Listen, it takes a while to get all your ducks in a row once you close a $3 million deal okay!?
First, my message to all of you, from our first ever newsletter last Tuesday morning:
"So far twocents is shaping up to be the most impactful project I’ve worked on in my life, and none of it would have been possible without our early adopters taking a chance on us. Our funding is going straight to building the team (8 full timers hired within the last 6 weeks) and shipping features that will fix the world of online finance. By the end of this year, twocents will be on the App Store, on Android, and online.
A heartfelt thank you to all my users, employees, and investors for giving me a shot. Seeing people reply to each other every day, and knowing we sparked those conversations, is so rewarding. I’m super excited to see what we can parlay our initial momentum into."
As of now, the team is up to 5 full time employees, with another 3 joining within two weeks. I spent most of last month hiring and signing legal paperwork. You can expect our shipping velocity to explode once I get all the cruft out of the way of my engineers and set them loose on our roadmap. It's not over at all - in fact, we're so back.

Now let's get into it.
New in v20:

As highly requested: now only verified accounts can create polls!
-
Shipped smarter content moderation to replace the old filter. You can finally have a good night on twocents.
-
Also highly requested: New Today and Top Today filters now do what they're supposed to.
-
Voting in a poll automatically upvotes it (I've wanted Twitter to have this feature for years...)
-
Attached action buttons to comments so you don't have to swipe on them
-
Added more cities in Australia & the UK
-
New "Verified Only" filter in the Arena for users who have connected at least one account
-
Tutorial banner can now be swiped away in either direction
-
Fixed weird lag between tapping on an inbox notification and having it load
-
Fixed a bug where you couldn't properly tap on a topic
-
Built a carousel of top posts to replace the previously bland onboarding welcome screen
-
Codebase improvements (spaghetti delenda est)
See you all here again next week. We're not going anywhere, and now there's more of us than ever. Hoping to announce the entire team soon!
