Your Security Comes First

faq

At twocents, keeping your information safe is central to our mission. Our platform is read-only, which means we can’t move your money, make trades on your behalf, or view your personal identifying details. All account connections are established and verified through Plaid — the same trusted service used by apps like Venmo and Robinhood.

Your privacy is our top priority. We never collect emails, phone numbers, or other personal data. Your credentials sync securely and never leave iCloud. You’re always in control, choosing which accounts to connect and what information to share.

Here’s an overview of how we securely store and manage user profiles alongside their linked financial accounts:

  • Each user has a unique app ID that doesn’t reveal personal identifying information, along with their account creation date, age, gender, and settings like subscription type and notification preferences. Every linked bank, brokerage, and crypto account also stores a unique ID, plus timestamps for when the record was created and last updated, ensuring all data stays organized and current.

  • Each connected bank account stores the financial institution’s name, the account subtype (such as checking, savings, or credit card), and the last 4 digits of the account number (masked for security). It also includes read-only details about the institution and account, along with the current balance.

  • Each connected brokerage account includes a Plaid access token for data retrieval, the session ID when the account was linked, and the name of the brokerage institution. It stores the account subtype (such as IRA, 401k, or Taxable), the masked account number, the current balance, and information about the investments and holdings like stocks and bonds. While we’re not using the stock portfolio data yet, we collect it to build a complete picture and save balances over time to track your financial progress.

  • Each connected crypto wallet records the blockchain network it’s on (like Ethereum, Bitcoin, or Solana), the public wallet address, the cryptocurrency balance in crypto units, and its equivalent value in USD.

As a twocents user, you can feel confident knowing your financial data is handled with care, security, and full transparency.
